Kindergarten Visit

April 25, 2010

Grace and I went to Washington School Friday for her Kindergarten Spring Visit.  I’m not ready for this.  In the next 1 1/2 years I will be sending 4 children to Kindergarten.  And in 2 years…Kindergarten will be a thing of the past in our family.

Gracie played a little shy.  Typical of Grace.  But we ended up staying at Washington until 8 that night because of the Spring Carnival.  By the end of the night she knew many teachers well – with a little help from Lucy.  And on Saturday…she got her Girl Scout registration confirmation in the mail…talk about a little girl aging overnight.  Ugh…

And the boys turn 4.

April 25, 2010

The boys turned 4 last week.

Twenty some kids and lots of aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends gathered at the park for the annual Easter Egg hunt and birthday celebration.

Hard to believe my sweet little boys are 4.  As much as I hate to see them grow up, I have never liked the “threes”.  Small people constantly saying “I do it!” when I just want to do it for them and move on.  So to have three, three year olds has been one of the most difficult years of my life.  But now they are four.  And, magically, my life already seems a little easier.  They actually can “Do It” themselves.  Well – most things.  🙂

So their birthday was fabulous and they were spoiled by those who love them.  And they seem so grown up.

As we were leaving Wal-mart:

Lucy:  Gracie, I’m going to say “Look at that pretty pink nail polish” and you’re going to say “where?”  Then I’m going to say “made you look!”

Grace:  OK

Lucy:  Look at that pretty pink nail polish

Grace:  Where?

Grace:  Look at that Star!  That star in the whole world!

Lucy:  Where?

Mommy:  Awwwwwwwwwwwwe!  Look at that cute little puppy dog.

Grace:  Where?

Lucy:  (giggle)

Mommy:  Made ya look!

Grace:  Giggling says “You’re a liar.”

Mommy:  Yep!  I’m a big fat liar.

Grace:  You’re not fat mommy!  You’re loveful and stretchy.

Grace provides a lot of my material these days…not just on the blog…but in my conversations.

Don’t know where she got it…but out of the blue she takes her two hands and forms a heart, looks at me, and tells me she loves me.  Too sweet.

Train Ride

April 12, 2010

Grandma and Grandpa James picked up the boys on Friday.  They spent the night and then they all took the Amtrak for a 45 minute ride, had lunch, and headed back home.  They were gone about 5-6 hours.  The boys got off the train exhausted…but sounds like they had a blast.  Vaughn especially had a lot to say about it.  Apparently he rode an orange and a blue train.

It was an early birthday present for the boys.  Mom – send a picture!!

Lincoln the Cuddlebug?

April 12, 2010

Lincoln does not cuddle.  Ever.  Well maybe when he wants to stay up past his bedtime and he knows it’s the only way mommy will let him.

I’ve had to come up with creative ways to be affectionate with him…like rough-housing and tickling him.

Today, we were at cheer and he kicked over someone’s pop.  The person kindly picked it up and told him it was ok.  I didn’t see exactly what happened.  But Lincoln came up behind me (I was sitting on the floor) and put his arms around me.  The guy said again that it was ok.  I looked at Lincoln and he started bawling.  Then he crawled up in my lap and cuddled with me for about 20 minutes.  I loved every second of it.  Wondering if I can hire that guy to scare Lincoln on a regular basis?

Lucy got her ITBS scores back last week.  The whole family picked her up from cheer and we went out for ice cream to celebrate.  We told the kids that Lucy did a good job on tests and that she worked really hard.

Grace asked what her score was.  I told her a 94.  She said, “What is that?”  I said, “it’s like an A.”

Grace: “What would be better is an A+.”
