February 26, 2009

Forgot to send snacks to school with Lucy.

Delivered 140 boxes of girl scout cookies.

Got stuck in Wendy’s drive thru lane (due to construction) and had to be pulled out by a tow truck.

Sat through 2 hours of cheer practice.

Watched Days of Our Lives.

Worked 6 hours.

Peeled 4 potatoes.

Called the Humane Society.

Got soaked in the rain.

Took a bath with Lucy.

Let Lucy read three books to me.

Let all my kids O.D. on Peanut Butter Patties.

Watched Gavin be the first one out of bed and be completely joyful at the one on one time with mommy and daddy.

Heard Gracie make a secret wish for a horsie.

Took a heart out of Lucy’s backpack that said, “I love Mommy.”

Had a hot mocha from McDonalds.

Signed up Jamie and myself for Girl Scout Overnight/Troop Readiness Training.

Changed ZERO diapers.

Bought 2 gallons of milk, 1 loaf of bread and some cherry preserves.

Had Gracie tell me that she would sleep with me when she woke up in the morning.

Kissed my boys goodnight.

Gavin

Gavin may always look the saddest because of his sad eyes…but he has the best laugh and the best smile…and when he throws in his little giggle it just melts my heart!

Lucy Reads

February 18, 2009

Last night Lucy picked the book, “Are You My Mother”. She wanted to read. She blew me away when she read the entire first page without any help. She is doing so good! She loves trying to read and when I read her books.

Valentine’s Weekend

February 16, 2009

I’ve been trying to download pictures to post.  Apparently when you have five small children that mess with your computer all the time, drives end up missing.  Since the J drive is missing from my computer – I can’t download pics 🙂

Friday Kimmee came over and watched all the kids while Jamie and I went out for dinner.  It was great!  We actually got to talk to each other.  Something we miss these days.  After we got back, we got to see pictures of Kimmee’s trip to Japan to see Shane.  I loved seeing how happy she was in the pictures.  She misses him so much.

Saturday Steve and Donna came over at 10 am, gave us the key to their house, and kicked us out.  They stayed and played with the kids all day, spent the night, and kept them until Sunday afternoon!!!  The kids had a blast.  I was most worried about Lucy who doesn’t like to spend the night away from her momma.  But she fell asleep on the couch with Steve and Grace at around 8:30 – so no problems!!  The highlights that I heard about were going to McDonalds, Discovery Park, and wrestling.

It snowed Friday night.  So the first thing on our agenda – a snowball fight!  Just kidding.  Jamie had to go to work.  That gave me the chance to go to Cato and spend the rest of a gift card that Jamie gave me over a year ago for Christmas!!  Then we headed to IC for lunch and a trip to Target.  I know!  Sounds like what we do every weekend.  But this weekend we did it ALONE!  Then we headed back to Steve and Donnas where we spend the evening just hanging out, relaxing.  It was so nice.

Sunday we got up and headed to church.  Lincoln, Gavin, Vaughn and Grace all got to sing in “Big” Church this weekend.  It’s been planned for a few weeks – but I wasn’t sure how they’d do since we missed last week (Lucy’s cheerleading competition).  They did soooo good!  I was so impressed to see them up on stage – all three boys sang and did all the movements to the songs.  They were so stinking adorable.  Grace came out after the boys and she sang and did movements too!  She doesn’t even do that in preschool!

After church Jamie and I went to our new small group.  Love the group!  Afterwards, the entire group went over to one couple’s house and we ate, the men prepared a small lesson for the kids, and we had a Valentine party.  We are really looking forward to being a part of this.

Oh, Jamie didn’t got to the lunch afterwards – he went to the Iowa Wrestling Meet with Paul.  He said he had a great time and really enjoyed it.  Lucy and Grace went with me, Steve and Donna still had the boys at our house.

When I got home…our kids were happy.  They needed a break from Jamie and me as much as we needed one from them.  They got the undivided attention of two people they love for the whole weekend.  It reminded me that I need to do that more.

Lucy’s Version of the Three Little Pigs

February 9, 2009

Parts of the Three Little Pigs you many have never heard before (according to Lucy):

“Get over here Dude!”

“Run run run as fast as I can, you can’t catch me I’m the Piggy Bread Man.”

“And the first house was too light.”

UI Cheer Competition

February 9, 2009

Yesterday we spent the day at Carver Hawkeye for a Dance and Cheer Competition.  I was so proud of Lucy and her team as they brought home their 3rd First Place Trophy (out of 3 competitions!).  The first time Lucy’s team took the floor, their music stopped about halfway through the performance…the girls stopped for a second – but then continued their routine and did GREAT!   They ended up getting to come out and do the routine again to music this time.

Girl Scout Fun

February 7, 2009

Today Lucy and I spent the day with Melissa and Isabel at Camp L Kee Ta.  It really was a great day spent outside in the beautiful 60+ degree weather.  The girls got covered in mud and loved it!  The day was planned months ago and called “Winter Carnival”.  Fun activities were supposed to include ice skating, sledding, snow sculpting and more.  Instead it included a “snowball” fight with white balloons, making a fleece scarf, miniature golf and life skills.
