Marriage – Already???

December 30, 2008

Lucy woke me up around 11 last night.

“Mommy, I’m scared!”

“What are you scared of?”

“I’m afraid to get married.”

Lucy has a crush on a boy.

I asked her what was the scariest part of getting married.  She lifted up her shirt  and started to pull down on her pants a little – making me very nervous.  Then she took her finger and drew a fake line below her belly.  She said, “When they cut you right here.”  She’s seen my c-section scar.  So we talked a little about having babies and getting married.  It makes me sad that it keeps her up at night.  Yes, there are going to be some major heartaches with this one.

Sorry Santa!

December 23, 2008

Last night I was trying to be Susie Homemaker.

The girls and I attempted to make homemade sugar cookies.

There was premade sugar cookie dough in the refrigerator.  Not good enough for Santa.

I read on an Alton Brown recipe to use powdered sugar instead of flour to roll the cookies out on.

So I did.

They stuck to the pan.

I was able to save a few.  Although they look horrible.

So, no cookies for Santa.

My Little Grace Face

December 23, 2008

Several times a day I hear:

“You are the best mommy in the whole world.”

“Because you are beautiful.”

“I love you momma!”

“My majesty.”

She is an amazingly sweet child.

Uncle Jason

December 21, 2008

Uncle Jason is surprisingly good with the kids.  I’m not sure why I’m surprised.  But…he did sit the girls down earlier and pay them money in return for them promising that they will make sure that when he goes to a nursing home he gets his own room and a window.  They were quizzed on it before we left and did well.

We have written a song for Uncle Jason and I’ll see if I can get the kids to sing it to him tomorrow:

Sung to the tune of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”:

Oh, you better be nice.
Better buy us a horse.
When we turn 16,
better make it a Porsche.
Or no windows and a roommate for you.

You better be kind
We want candy and sweets
Take us on a cruise,
Buy us toys and treats.
Or no windows and a roommate for you.

I love it when people steal my camera.  I got home and found this cool picture on it:

Winter Wonderland

Christmas at Grandma & Grandpa’s house this weekend.  The kids had a blast sledding on the ice today:
