Lots of Help

February 28, 2007

Lucy went to Awanas.  Lincoln and Gavin went to Kimmees.  Amy brought us a yummy spaghetti casserole.  We had a few moments of sanity.  Boys getting worse.  Lucy getting better.  Calling the doctor tomorrow – possible pink eye??  Almost 11.  Lucy just went to sleep.  Gavin still wide awake.  Mommy going to bed with Gavin.

Raising Deafblind Triplets

February 28, 2007

This story is heart wrenching.  You can read about it on Dr. Phil’s website.

“The way the girls lost their hearing is they lost high frequencies first, and then low frequencies second. So, that would mean that female voices would be harder for them to hear than male voices, and it’s been one of my worst fears that they thought Mommy just stopped talking to them.”   Mom Liz

“I don’t think a day goes by that the devil doesn’t sit on my shoulder and whisper in my ear that I could just go, I could get out of this thing.” …Stepdad George

Sick AGAIN? Or Still?

February 27, 2007

I’m not sure if we’re going into the 3rd, 4th or 5th straight round of illnesses…but the kids are getting sick again – or still.  Runny noses, coughs and overall crabbiness.  It feels like they are all finally starting to get better when BAM! it starts again.  I walked in to find a huge snot clump all over Lincolns face today.  Jamie looked at it and asked “What IS it?” Did he wipe it all over his face?  How else could it have got there.  But it wasn’t smeared around, which was the weird part.  And it was ABOVE his nose, so he couldn’t have sneezed it there.   Gavin’s buns look like we took a meat tenderizer to them.  I’ve never seen a diaper rash so bad.  It is so blistered it looks like there are thin scabs all over it.  I am AMAZED at how much he DOESN’T cry when I change him.  He definitely cries…but I’ve seen babies cry a lot harder with much less severe rash.  He’s a good boy. Vaughn has constant snot dripping from his nose.  I don’t know how many times I’ve wiped it today.  Possibly from teething??  And Lucy has a cough and sore throat.  She’s been taking some good naps in the afternoons.  But her voice is very hoarse.  Gracie seems to be doing ok.

Jamie and I could really use some good sleep.  I’ve been going into work tired and exhausted every day for weeks now.  I’m sure he’s the same.  I don’t know know which I’d rather have…all the kids to get it and get it over with…or stagger it out between a few kids at a time.  I don’t think I could handle all 5 being sick at once.  Not with them all this young.

I know for certain that the energy and strength to care for our children is coming from God.  How else could we do this?
