Church in the Park
Posted September 6, 2009 by brookhartsCategories: Uncategorized
Today we had church at Weed Park. After the service we had lunch and games. A bounce house, huge bounce house slide, huge bouncey slip and slide, and bouncy obstacle course…oh and a rock climbing wall.
Lucy made it to the top.

Grace gave it her best shot.

Wilson’s Apple Orchard

Went to Wilson’s Apple Orchard Saturday. Took the tractor to the Honeycrisp section. Got out and picked a bunch of apples. The kids ate about 15 apples. Yummy! The kids got to run and play and be free:) It was so nice to let them just be.

Gotta LOVE Gracie’s face.

The Pink Poodle

Saturday Grace went to a birthday party at the Pink Poodle. It’s a new birthday party palace for girls. It was darling…and definitely pink
Already scheduled Lucy’s birthday party there. Up-dos, make-up, nail polish and a gift bag. Perfect!! And there’s a party room in back that we’ll be having a tea party in. So Lucy.
Gracie had a great time at Stella’s birthday party.

Girl Scouts

Thursday was our first Daisy Meeting for the year. This year we have 7 girls signed up. Very excited about that!!
We made cupcakes (thanks Grammy for the recipe!), made Girl Scout Law bracelets, and tried to plan our camping trip. 7 5&6 year old girls = chaos. After sitting all day – all they wanted to do was talk, run and play. I’m definitely going to have to change my strategy. But it was good.

Daddy Dollars
Posted September 4, 2009 by brookhartsCategories: Uncategorized

Found this idea in Family Fun Magazine. We’re going to give it a try. Mornings are crazy at our house. We’re going to start offering Daddy Dollars to the girls for getting up, getting dressed, getting their hair brushed and more in the mornings. They can turn their Daddy Dollars in for prizes like a family trip to the park, have a friend over, later bedtime, and other things that don’t cost money. They can earn extra Daddy Dollars for doing things like putting the dishes away, cleaning the bathroom, reading books, etc. Excited to see how/if it works.

Today Grace had to take a “Bag about Me” to school. It was a lunch sack. Grace filled it herself when I wasn’t paying attention. When I went to help her fill it…she said, “It’s in my backpack. But don’t look.” Of course I had to look. It was SO her:
A silver shoe.
A purple boa.
Some beads from the beaded hanging curtain hanging on her bed.
A dolly.
A package of crystal light.
A pink ribbon.
I secretly added a brownie and snuck it back in her backpack.

So I haven’t heard it for a while…but yesterday:
G: Mommy, I want…(pause)
M: What do you want?
G: It’s like chocolate…and brown…
M: Brownies?
G: Big smile. Yes!

- Gracie having fun with Gavin
Today Lucy had two girlfriends over after school. And of course…it involved a tea party. Fancy glass plates and cups, grapes, brownies, carrots, and fruit juice. They all seemed to have a blast.

Lucy's Tea Party
After Daddy got off work, we went to the park for some KFC (gag!). The kids loved it. This is a picture I can see looking back on 10 years from now when they graduate. Do you just love Isabel?! She reminds me of Vaughn.
